TRIUND TREK - MCLEODGANJ - DHARAMSALA

Triund is a small hill station in the Kangra district in the state of Himachal Pradesh, India. Triund is at the foot of the Dhauladhar ranges and is at a height of 2,828 m. Triund is a large land of green grass and pasture like. One can see the mighty Dhauladhar ranges just above the eyes. It is a one-day trek approx. 10 kilometres (one way) from Mcleod Ganj bus stand and under 6 kilometres (one way) from Galu temple near Dharamkot. The trail is rocky and cut in steps at some places. From Galu devi temple there is an unambiguous byway which goes through a beautiful forest of oak and deodar trees.

TOUR ITINERARY:

 

Day 01:  Mcleod ganj – Triund (2875 M) 9 kms walk
 

After breakfast on your own, start walking from Mcleod ganj or Bhagsu Nag. It is steep ascent for 4 hours through mixed forest of oak, rhododendron and deodar trees to Triund. Packed lunch en-route.
Arrive Triund and check in camp.  Triund is an alpine meadow situated on top of a ridge from where we have superb view of the peaks of Dhauladhar mountain on one side and Kangra valley on the other.  Overnight stay at camp. Dinner with bonfire in the evening.

 

Day 02: Triund – Snow line  – Triund – Bhagsu Nag 14 kms

After breakfast at Triund walk futher upto Snow line from where you have close view of Laka Glacier and the peaks of Dhauladhar. Walk back to Triund.  Lunch at Triund.  After lunch we take a different route on the way back to Bhagsu. It is downhill walk for three to four hours to Bhagsu Nag. En-route we come across Bhagsu waterfall. Trek Ends at Bhagsu Nag. Drive to your next destination.
